Tryptase, study 1

Two investigations conducted by Garvey et al. (2010a,b) involved a total
of 438 patients undergoing surgery of various kinds. The main
objective was to study the level of serum tryptase and changes
occurring in this during surgery, in particular in connection with an
allergic reaction.

Study 1:

Serum tryptase was measured in 120 patients immediately before and
after orthopedic surgery in general anesthesia. None of these
patients experienced any signs of allergy during anesthesia.

Variable list:

gender: Gender of the patient
        0: Female
        1: Male

age: Age of the patient

ASA: Classification of physical status
        1: A normal healthy patient.
2: A patient with mild systemic disease.
3: A patient with severe systemic disease,
that limits function, but is not incapacitating.
4: A patient with severe systemic disease
that is a constant threat to life.
5: A moribund patient who is not expected to survive
           without the operation.
6: A declared brain-dead patient whose organs are
           being removed for donor purposes.
